$1.2 Million Red Centre International Tourism Campaign Launched

A new two month international marketing campaign aiming to entice overseas tourists to the Northern Territory’s Red Centre has begun.

Tourism Minister, Dr Chris Burns, said the $1.2 million international campaign will promote Central Australia to the world.

“Tourism is a key economic driver and the Territory Government is ensuring we continue work to get more tourists to visit Central Australia,” Dr Burns said.

“We have a fantastic range of tourism operators in Alice Springs and Central Australia with great products on offer, and this campaign is aiming to get more people to come see that for themselves.

“This is the second time the Global Red Centre Marketing Campaign will run and is estimated it will reach over 53 million people overseas.

“At the centre of the campaign will be television programs and advertising featuring on the National Geographic and Discovery channels, as well as online adverts and marketing activities.

“It will showcase Uluru, Kings Canyon, the Larapinta Trail and the MacDonnell Ranges to promote the unique natural landscapes and tourism experiences on offer in the Red Centre.

“This campaign has also created an exclusive global partnership with Qantas and collaborative marketing ventures with high profile travel companies to promote airfare deals and travel packages to Central Australia.

“In addition to the Global Red Centre marketing campaign, early next year a domestic campaign will also run aiming to get more Australians to visit the Red Centre

“The tourism industry is extremely competitive, and the Territory Government will continue to deliver strategic marketing campaigns so more people come and visit the Territory,” Dr Burns said.

The Global Red Centre Marketing Campaign will run until the end of November and will target the United Kingdom, Spain, Scandinavia, Italy, Germany, France, the Netherlands, New Zealand, the United States of America, Singapore, Hong Kong, Korea and China.
